The Capstone "Lessons Learned" reflection allowed me the chance to thoroughly evaluate my leadership and followership throughout one of the longer and more difficult projects I have taken on in college. I was able to take note of and celebrate times that I welcomed leadership roles like when I was engaged meaningfully with the students at Aspira, when we facilitated a workshop, or when I initiated the concept of a video project about bullying that would be impactful. Those moments were important to me because they aligned with my values of helping others and leading with empathy. However, this reflection also helped me honestly identify areas for me to focus on in the future like taking on more responsibilities beyond the classroom or finding a balance with my time. By reflecting on both my strengths and weaknesses, I was able to identify actual growth in the area of confidence as well as positively influencing others. It even challenged me to reflect on the type of leader I am and want to be, which is responsible, collaborative, and someone who is willing to understand others.
