For my Personal Development Project, I worked to create a regular routine to help manage my busy week, balancing classes, sorority obligations, social time, and self-care. This, for me, is a clear tie to Transformational Leadership theory, because there is a lot of self-motivation and self-discipline required to see through the goals I had set; as I continued to check off daily goals each week, I was inspired to lead by example because of the effort I was putting forth each day, for myself, and others around me. Although the routine itself taught me, I also became aware of opportunities for growth in expanding and enhancing my time management and organizational skills that will be helpful in being an effective leader. In my new awareness through the project, I also recognized I could be more patient and emotionally in tune to the world around me when the schedule did not go as expected or life was stressful, leading to disorganization of all sorts. This project helped me understand that leadership is about being both orderly, disciplined, and adaptable and responsive to the demands of the moment. Looking into my future career, I want to continue to work on growing my own leadership strategy that is grounded in both poise and empathy.
